Today was a huge day for Jasper White and Montana Nardi as they contested the NSW Regional Finals of the Premiers Spelling Bee. In the Stage 2 Finals, Jasper came up against schools from all over regional NSW, including Murwillumbah, Parramatta East, Narooma, Gunnedah South, Thurgoona, Griffith and Fairvale. In an incredible effort, Jasper White has been crowned the Runner Up of the Regional Spelling Bee. Starting with 30 competitors, Jasper held his nerves and calmly worked his way into the top 5 after six rounds. He drew some tricky words, answering correctly to make it into the top 2. After going neck and neck for another 5, incredibly hard rounds, the winner was crowned with Jasper finishing an extremely creditable runner up. We congratulate Jasper on an amazing effort.

Round 1 – drum
Round 2 – upwards
Round 3 – impartial
Round 4 – percussion
Round 5 – buoyant
Round 6 – physiotherapy
Round 7 – certificate
Round 8 – rejuvenate
Round 9 – phenomenon
Round 10 – parameter
Round 11 – repercussion
Round 12 – appreciable
Round 13 – fluoride
In the Stage 3 Final, Montana came up against 25 students from schools as diverse as Narooma, Griffith East, Griffith North, Tweed Heads, Mullumbimby, Mullaway, Stratheden and Crescent Head Public Schools.
In another incredible performance, Montana also achieved a podium position, finishing equal third in the competition. Montana’s run of words is outlined below (the winner was determined at the end of Round 7).

Round 4- binoculars
Round 5 – mispronunciation
